Our benefit offerings are designed to provide economic incentives and support for our employees
in a fair and uniform manner, and consistent with company objectives.
Eligibility for Benefits
The Company will provide group medical, dental, vision-care and life insurance benefits to all full-time employees
after the first 90 days of employment. A full-time employee must work at least 30 hours per week on a regular basis
in order to maintain full-time status.
Management Succession and Development
The company has a comprehensive Management Development Program (MDP) for existing and potential supervisors and managers.
This program is designed to prepare employees to take on more challenging roles within the organization and to become
more effective members of the Southeast Frozen Foods management team. A select number of candidates are approved
for the MDP each year based upon their level of readiness.
Life Insurance
Southeast Frozen Foods provides full-time employees and their dependents an excellent group insurance package.
This program includes employer-paid life insurance with a face value equal to the employees' annual base compensation,
and accidental death and dismemberment insurance equal to the employees' annual base salary, starting 90 days after
the start of employment.
Group Health Insurance
Southeast Frozen Foods Company, L.P. offers a comprehensive group health insurance plan in which the company pays for the majority of the insurance plan for full-time employees. Coverage is effective after 90 days of employment. The employee's share of the premium is $20 a week for single or employee plus child(ren) coverage, $35 a week for employee plus spouse, and $ 40 a week for family coverage. These weekly rates include medical, dental, vision, short-term disability, long-term disability and life insurance coverage. There is a calendar year deductible of $200 for single coverage or $400 for family coverage. In addition, the plan offers a Preferred Provider Option (PPO) that allows covered persons to take advantage of discounted medical rates negotiated by the carrier, Aetna.
Additional Voluntary Benefits
Additional Life Insurance: Enables you to tailor coverage for your individual needs and helps provide financial security for your family members. Two plans to choose from: Low cost Level Term Life or Universal Life (Permanent life insurance coverage that builds cash value.
Hospital Confinement Insurance: Pays you a lump-sum benefit for a covered hospital confinement or outpatient surgery. There are five levels of coverage to choose from. Accident insurance: Helps offset the unexpected medical expenses that can result from a fracture, dislocation, etc. Affordable spouse disability coverage (accident, sickness & maternity) is also available. Vacations
After six months of service, you are eligible for vacation. Must be a full-time employee to qualify.
Holidays
Full-time employees are eligible for holiday pay effective on the first day of employment,
and are paid for an 8-hour workday. Part-time employees are eligible for holiday pay after
90 days of employment, and are paid based on the average daily pay for the two weeks prior
to the holiday. Southeast Frozen Foods generally provides six paid holidays:
Southeast 401(k) Plan and Profit-Sharing Plan
Southeast Frozen Foods' 401(k) plan is another benefit designed to help you plan and invest for the future through long-term saving, using pre-tax dollars. This means that the money you save plus the amount normally paid in taxes will be put into your 401(k) savings account.
Southeast Frozen Foods will match personal contributions to each participating employee's 401(k) account, if the company achieves its earnings target for the fiscal year, at a rate of 25% of each dollar contributed to a maximum of 6% of the employee's annual compensation. Each eligible employee is also entitled to the benefit of the company's profit-sharing plan. This benefit is paid 100% by the employer if the company achieves its earnings target for the fiscal year. This amount is then allocated to the profit-sharing account for each eligible employee. Enrollment into these programs is available during the months of January and July for full-time employees who have completed one-year of service prior to the enrollment period and have worked at least 1,000 hours. Short-Term Disability
Full-time employees are eligible for short-term disability benefits
after satisfying a 180-day exclusion period. Benefits begin on the
eighth consecutive day the employee is out of work due to an illness,
pregnancy or off-the-job accident. Benefits are 67% of the employee's
basic weekly earnings and are payable for up to 26 weeks.
Long-Term Disability
Full-time employees are eligible for long-term disability benefits. Benefits begin after an elimination period of
180 days and after short-term benefits have been exhausted. Benefits are 50% of the employee's basic monthly earnings.
Credit Union
Employees of Southeast Frozen Foods may choose to join the Universal
Service Credit Union. The credit union, based in Hialeah, Florida,
offers regular savings accounts, checking accounts, VISA/MasterCard,
mortgage loans and IRA's. Southeast Frozen Foods is not affiliated with the Universal Service Credit Union but offers its services as a convenience to all Southeast Frozen Foods employees effective on their first day of employment.
